Support: Error Messages

There are hidden menu options on the menu bar to the right of the Help option. When I click on any of these options the program terminates.

These menu options relate to the Modifiable Edition of The Accounting Library and are not applicable to the version you are running. Do not try to launch any of these options.

When I print a report only a few pages are printed.

The default print option is to print only the pages that have been previewed on screen. Select to print "All" pages.

Nothing appears to be happening. Report is not being displayed to screen.

As with other Windows programs, The Accounting Library is subject to DLL conflicts. In most instances, these conflicts will be apparent immediately. The installation program will not replace any existing DLL file, but if that file is corrupt or incorrect, you will receive an error message, particularly when printing reports. In this case you will select a report and the program will appear to be doing something for a moment and then will return to the same screen as if nothing happened (which is exactly what happened). In a few cases, simply rebooting your computer will correct the error, but if the errors persist, we have included in the DLL folder on the CD a copy of all of the Windows/System files we use. You can use Explorer to copy these files to your WINDOWS/SYSTEM directory, reboot your computer, and that should correct the errors. Since this is a 16-bit application please make sure you paste the files into the System folder, not the System 32 folder. Finally re boot your computer and the reports should display.

Error when installing 16-bit application in 32-bit operating system.

This error has occurred one time when a person was installing The Accounting Library into Windows XP Professional Edition (Release 2). The user received the following message "16-bit Windows Subsystem. C:\Windows\System32\Autoexec.nt. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose "Close" to terminate the application."

If you get this error it means the installation program is looking for the "autoexec.nt" file in the c:\windows\system32 directory and it is not there. To correct this error go to your C:\WINDOWS\repair directory and copy the autoexec.net file from there to the c:\windows\system32 directory. This will correct this error.
